Bags of Space
Hotel or office, station or airport, business or pleasure – today’s passengers frequently come with serious baggage requirements. That’s why the latest M8™ Mercedes Vito taxi has been designed and built with luggage space very much front-of mind. With a much increased front luggage area, the latest M8™ offers bags more room than even before. There’s also the option of the M8™ Plus giving you greater loading room in the boot.
Wheelchair Accessible Taxis
With wheelchair accessibility and a host of additional features such as grab handles and twin electric side-steps you are sure to be able to cater for every fare with the Mercedes-Benz M8™ Vito taxi.
The latest M8™ Mercedes Vito taxi now also comes with a new, lightweight, DuoClick™ fast-deploy ramp which offers the ultimate in quick and convenient wheelchair access. Unlike other ramps, the M8™ Vito taxi’s DuoClick™ ramp is robust and clicks together to create a solid platform for loading wheelchair passengers safely, with ease.
The wide entry, sliding rear door, is also a bonus making entry and exit a breeze. Plus, once inside the vehicle, the self-adjusting restraints and full lap and diagonal seat belts make safely securing the wheelchair passenger quick and easy.
Taxi drivers famously have strong points of view. Here’s ours.
There’s a spacious cockpit with
an adjustable comfort seat, which is wider, and has more leg room, than other cabs. The driver’s seat is covered in leather for all-day comfort and you can also specify a dealer-fit flip down passenger seat, finished in cloth or leather, so you have the option of using the space to your left as luggage space or for an additional passenger.
The steering wheel is adjustable for height and reach and the Low Speed system (LSM™) button is easily accessible on the dashboard, to the right of the steering wheel. When the Vito Taxi is travelling at less than 5mph, LSM can be enabled: an amber light indicates that the system is available for use and a green light indicates that it is
All round visibility is excellent and electric windows allow easy communication at the kerbside. The ‘TfL’ light blue and yellow light, which shows ‘hired’ or ‘for hire’, is a slimline unit built into the front passenger panel.
The heating and air conditioning are separate from the passenger area so your climate is always exactly as you want it, regardless of the preferences of your passengers – although you can turn the air conditioning on or
off in the passenger compartment as you wish.
There are numerous stowage options for everything from papers to books, pens, mobile phones, drinks and loose change, along with a magazine rack and coat hook positioned directly beside the driving seat. There is also separate lighting in the cab, including an LED driver’s reading light.
For your safety, a driver’s air bag is included, and there’s an attackresistant panel separating the cab from the passenger compartment, in case. If you ever did feel that you were under attack, a simple flick of the panic button will sound the vehicle’s horn loudly and repeatedly. The passenger doors are equipped with motion locking sensors, which automatically lock when the taxi reaches a speed of 3mph. In addition, the driver also can control the locking of all doors with an independent door locking switch. All the controls are ergonomically positioned for ease of use and comfort. An integrated centre console divides the front luggage /passenger area from the driver area and houses the driver’s control panel for interior lights; both rear passenger steps; intercom; driver’s reading light; independent locking facility; and panic button. There are also two receptacles for drink bottles.
